Rootstock at Wyldflowr: Mallar Bhattacharya & Sudhakar Vaidyanathan

Mallar Bhattacharya is a sarode player and disciple of the late Ustad Aashish Khan. Mallar began his studies on the violin before taking up the sarode, which he plays with close attention to the traditional techniques and compositions of the Maihar gharana. Mallar has performed widely in the US and abroad and has long been a student and board member at AACM, where he also learned in residence with Swara Samrat Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. In addition to his performances, Mallar is committed to preserving and promoting Indian classical music, having conducted multiple workshops and masterclasses to share his knowledge with the next generation. Sudhakar Vaidyanathan began his training in tabla under Shri Satish Tare at the age of eight. He now continues to study tabla under the guidance of Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri. He is an up and coming tabla player and has played regularly at the Ali Akbar College of Music, and across the Bay Area.
