he Deep End started out as a group of long-time Bay Area jazz musicians who hoped to make the best of the pandemic. We got together behind the closed doors of a rehearsal studio to explore music that would be more fun and challenging than what we often played at the usual gigs. We were--and still are--drawn to innovative composers and lesser-known repertoire.
For this sextet performance, we’ll delve into the work of such classic giants as Lee Morgan, Thelonious Monk, and Horace Silver as well as contemporary artists including Alan Broadbent, Jack DeJohnette, and James Williams.
