THEA FARHADIAN is a violinist/composer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her projects include solo violin and interactive electronics, acoustic improvisation, solo laptop, radio art, and video. Her solo pieces for violin and electronics combine a classical music background with extended technique and digital processing. Farhadian’s work comprises an aesthetic range from more textured, noise-based sound to more tonal and microtonal realms. Her work has been seen internationally at venues which include the Issue Project Room, and Downtown Music Gallery, Galerie Mario Mazolli, Sowieso, and Quiet Cue in Berlin, the Room Series, and Center for New Music in San Francisco, the Aram Kachaturyan Museum in Yerevan, Armenia among others. Farhadian started as a classical violinist and played in the Berkeley Symphony under Kent Nagano for ten years. She has an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts from San Francisco State University and an M.F.A. in Electronic Music from Mills College. www.theafarhadian.com
CHRIS BROWN is a pianist, electronic musician and composer who performs with acoustic and electroacoustic instruments, writes interactive music software, and often incorporates microtonal tunings in his compositions and improvisations.
