Alex Heigl tries to strike a balance between the so-called "American Primitive" fingerpicking guitar of John Fahey, the ambient soundscapes of Brian Eno with Robert Fripp, and the synth whirlwinds of Tangerine Dream. In his solo performances, he uses loopers, synths, drum machines, and one really big pedalboard to create slowly evolving sound structures seek to answer the question, "What if Vangelis was a folk guitarist?"
